Today we are going to prep you for a great new look! The first day of school everyone (no matter how much you act like you don’t care) wants to look different. If you keep reading this post, you will find tips and tricks on how to get clear skin, bright eyes, rosy cheeks and more!
1 – Clear skin
The best way to get clear skin is to wash your face twice a day. If you don’t, dirt and oil will stay on your face and sink into your pores, causing tons of breakouts. Our favorite cleanser is the Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash in pink grapefruit.
Another important step for clear, soft, radiant skin is moisturizer. There are tons of you out there who use body lotion as facial moisturizer, and that is not good for your skin. The skin on your face is more delicate and sensitive then the skin on your body, so you need a facial moisturizer. The best one out there is the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.
You can buy this at departments stores such as Macys or Nordstrom, or you can get it at Sephora. This moisturizer is light enough that it doesn’t make your skin too shiny or oily, but it moisturizes enough so that your skin is soft and glowy instead of dry and patchy.
2 – Bright eyes
The best way for your eyes to appear bright, awake and alert is if you have long, thick eyelashes. However, a lot of people don’t naturally have those. To get them, wear the Revlon Grow Luscious mascara every day.
Extra Tip: Wear the Revlon mascara during the day, but right before you go to sleep, coat your eyelashes (both top and bottom) with Vaseline. This will help make them gorgeous!
Once school starts, the amount of sleep you get will be not nearly enough for your eyes to look bright and awake. Unfortunately, getting the requisite 9 hours of sleep a night is near impossible during the school year, we have a trick to get gorgeous eyes: the Origins No Puffery Cooling Mask for Puffy Eyes.
This says that it is a mask, however we have figured out the best way to use it: Every night, after you cleanse your face, dab a little bit of this mask underneath your eyes using your 4th finger (it’s a fact that your fourth finger is gentler so it won’t harm your delicate under-eye area), let it dry, then apply moisturizer on top without taking the mask off. When you wake up, no matter how much sleep you have gotten, your eyes will look bright, alert, and beautiful!
Everyone needs to know the right eyeshadow colors to use to bring out there eyes. Use the chart below when applying eyeshadow:
Blue eyes – brown, taupe/beige, peach
Green eyes – lavender, gold
Hazel eyes – dark purple, maroon
Grey eyes – charcoal, light brown, purple
Brown eyes – whatever color you want, lucky girl!
3 – Rosy cheeks
Blush is done. No one uses it any more. It is over, gone, finito.
So how do you get that pretty, girly, flushed look?
Easy – cheek stain!
This cheek stain is called Benetint by the cosmetics brand Benefit. What you do is you apply 3 stripes of this onto each cheek and blend it in using circular motions. It looks WAY more natural and less cakey than blush, and it doesn’t fade or wash off.
TIP: This also works as a lip stain, so to bring out the rosy-ness in your face, dab a little bit of this onto your lips and blend it in with your finger.
4 – Soft lips
Everybody wants those soft, rosy, perfect lips. Well, you can get them now!
The first step is to use the Fresh Sugar Lip Polish.
After using this, apply any lip balm. Our favorite brand is Soft Lips. Use this before bed so your lips don’t dry out during the night.
TIP: Using lip balm too much will make your lips not be used to moisturizing themselves, so don’t overapply it. Use it only when your lips are chapped!
6 – Extra Tips
Drink TONS of water. Drink enough water that – okay, this is gross – your pee is clear. This means you are fully hydrated. Drink a glass of water before every meal or snack, because it helps get your metabolism going and moving fast, not to mention it cuts your appetite to help you not eat as much. Water also helps clear your skin and make it look bright and refreshed, and it makes you feel happier and more energized.
Eat lots of fruits and vegetables. The vitamins in fruits and veggies help make your hair and nails grow long and strong, makes your skin vibrant, and they are also super healthy for you.
Take Omega-3 supplements. Omega-3 oil, AKA fish oil, helps clear your skin, makes you age better, makes your hair long, shiny and strong, helps your brain and your memory, and boosts your overall mood. You can buy these supplements at grocery stores or drugstores!
End every shower with a minute or two of cold water. This seals the cuticle on your hair, making it shinier and sleeker, it helps improve blood circulation, and tightens your pores.
